I heard Heidi Baker say this week, “Copies are worthless, but originals are priceless.” How true! I struggled for years comparing myself to others who had gifts, abilities and opportunities that I simply did not have. I tried to be a copy. And then it dawned on me. I was created by God for a unique purpose that He had tailor-made specifically for me. Wow! I was an original! And so are you! Let’s celebrate our uniqueness in God. We are priceless to Him.
Mary was called to wash Jesus feet in humility, Thomas gave us all hope by being honest about his doubts, Barnabas was an encourager to Paul, and Stephen gave his life as a martyr. Each of these persons was wired and called differently, but they each fulfilled their God-given purpose.
God created you specifically for Himself. He has given you a purpose on this earth that He is presently unfolding to you. Much of the time we probably do not know God’s full purpose for our lives. But as we take just one step of faith today, we are then positioned to see more clearly our God-given purpose.
Remember, all things really do work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28). When we submitted to Jesus Christ as our Lord, we embarked on a journey of fulfilling the purpose of God for our lives. But it unfolds before us step by step.
What is the step of faith that the Lord has placed before you today? Go for it. You are being positioned to fulfill your destiny…priceless.
Sometimes, I struggle a little with the concept of originality.
Obedience to God is by definition unoriginal. Since He is the origin.
But when we are obedient to him, we are our original selves as He designed us. As a result, we are original. And the unique one he called us to be. Kind of fascinating when you think about it…
