Dwight L. Moody, the world renowned evangelist from the latter part of the nineteenth century, once said two and a half persons were converted to Christ at one of his meetings. A friend asked if he meant two adults and a child. The fact was just the opposite—two children and an adult—because a whole life is saved when a child is led to Christ.

Do you know the following statistics?

  • 80% of all those who received Christ this past year were under the age of 15?
  • Those under the age of 15 are the most receptive to the Gospel?
  • 1/3 of the world’s population is under the age of 15?
  • Those under the age of 15 are the future leaders of every area of society?

Jesus told his disciples: “Let the little children come to me…for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

We are living on the edge of a great opportunity. Now is the time to focus on those who have eternal value and great possibility—the young of our generation. Youth are the most receptive to Christ and will lead the way for the advancement of the Kingdom of God in our generation.

A pastor in Texas who ministers to thousands each week told me months ago, “Our main focus is children. When we reach the children, we reach their parents also.”

Interesting concept. Sounds a bit like Jesus.
