When I was in my mid-thirties, a popular song by an American pop singer contained the words: “God is watching us from a distance.” Unfortunately many people believe that concept of God. They see him as a distant, impersonal being, presiding over His creation disinterestedly. They think God seldom intervenes and only after our frenzied begging.  Such a view is entirely incorrect.

The Bible reveals a God who seeks mankind because He wants to fellowship with them. God, the creator of the universe and ruler over it, existed before the beginning of time and created humans in His image (Genesis 1:26). God wants mankind to reflect His image.

The creator of the universe wants to have a personal friendship and relationship with us today! He wants us to know Him and consider him our closest friend. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him (1 John 4:9).

Since we were created to share in a close, loving relationship with God, let’s pursue our relationship with Jesus today with a passion. Remember, relationship is central to God. He created us to live in unbroken fellowship with Him.
