At times when I desperately want to know what God wants me to do, He seems to be silent. I used to question whether or not God was hiding from me or if He was displeased or angry with me.

A few weeks ago during my daily Bible reading and personal time with God, I read a scripture that unlocked a truth that helps me understand what is really going on behind the scenes when God seems to be silent.

“I go east, but he is not there.

I go west, but I cannot find him.

I do not see him in the north, for he is hidden.

I look to the south, but he is concealed.

But he knows where I am going.

And when he tests me,

I will come out as pure as gold” (Job 23:8-10 NLT).

Isn’t that an amazing scripture! Have you ever identified with Job’s search for God? What a consolation to realize that God knows exactly where we are going, and He knows what He is doing, regardless of how we may feel at the moment.

In about a week, LaVerne and I are releasing our new book: When God Seems Silent. In this book, we examine times of God’s silences and various barriers that block God’s voice. We explore Scriptures that bring to light what God is often doing in our lives while we are in the midst of confusion. LaVerne and I also reveal some of our own struggles with God’s silences and the tremendous breakthroughs we experienced from these life lessons.

May you experience God’s amazing grace, peace and goodness today in the midst of your journey with Him!
