I meet a lot of good people. And countless believe in a higher power. The only problem is many feel their good deeds will get them into heaven. But eternal salvation comes only through totally trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ as the sacrifice for our sin (John 3:16).

People who hope they can “work” their way into heaven by doing good and avoiding wrong somehow miss the truth that, “whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it (James 2:10).”

The truth is this: no one can keep all of the commandments of God because even if we stumble in only one point (and we will because we have a sin nature), we are guilty. In other words, if I have sinned one time or a million times, I have broken God’s law. If an airplane crashes 500 feet from the runway or 500 miles from the runway, it still crashes and the casualties are devastating.

Nothing good we do will get us to heaven, but Christ will get us there as we place our complete confidence in Him!
