Because worship is a function of the heart, there really are no formulas for worship. Worship is a lifestyle of bringing pleasure to God through the way we live. Jesus said that all worship must take place “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). Rick Warren wrote, “Every activity can be transformed into an act of worship when you do it for the praise, glory, and pleasure of God.” The Bible says, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31). Martin Luther observed, “A dairymaid can milk cows to the glory of God.” Olympic runner Eric Liddel maintained, “When I run, I feel his pleasure.” For Liddell, running was an act of worship. If you do everything as if you are doing it for Jesus, then even everyday chores are an act of worship.
