I am so glad the Holy Spirit reveals to us small changes we need to make that we can handle. If He revealed everything that’s wrong with us at once, we would be crushed, overwhelmed and perhaps give up. We learn through maturing in Christ that if we trust and obey the Lord when He speaks, God will honor our steps of obedience. Sure, we may make mistakes, but God will take our mistakes and turn them around for good when we trust Him. God is amazing! The fact that everything works toward our good does not mean that life will always feel good or that we will enjoy the process. His Word says that He makes “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those called according to his purpose” (Rom. 8:28, NKJV), and we can trust His Word. After serving the Lord for many years, I am totally convinced that it is more difficult to get out of His will than we often think. It is comforting to know that if we do stray off course, His loving hand will reach out and nudge us back on track. He is our shepherd, and his rod and staff comfort us. (Psalm 23:4)
