Sometimes we simply need to take a step of faith. When I read in the book of Acts that Paul and Silas were trying to go into Bithynia and were being prevented by the Spirit, it was life changing for me. Without knowing the full scope of God’s plan, Paul and Silas obeyed the Spirit’s voice and went in another direction. It turned out that the Holy Spirit had greater plans for them, which they did not recognize at the time (see Acts 16:7-10). But because they were moving, God could more easily guide them. Taking this biblical example, I was no longer afraid to take steps of faith in my own life. I knew that I could trust the Lord to keep me from going to places that were not in His perfect plan for me. I could trust Him to lead me with His divine direction and, in faith, step into God’s plans. Some of God’s people spend their lives in so much fear of making a mistake that they never do anything. There are times when it is much better to do something rather than continue to do nothing. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6). He wants us to keep our eyes on Him, and then follow alongside Him step by step.
How do we practically find God’s next step for our lives?
