We all need milestones in our lives. They help us face our future with confidence. Samuel the prophet, after the Lord gave God’s people a great victory, took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the LORD has helped us!” (I Sam. 7:12) We all need to set up our own Ebenezers, or milestones so to speak, to remember how the Lord has helped us as we look to our future in faith. I am presently in the process of succession as the international director of DOVE International. I am amazed at the faithfulness of God in our lives over the past 42 years of leadership! And I know that the God who led us through the past 42 years will surely lead us in this next step of obedience. All believers and all leaders need their own milestones. What are the milestones in your life that you need to set up to remind you of the faithfulness of God?
