God wires all of us differently. We each have unique gifts or “bents” from God according to the way He has made us. The Scriptures tell us to “train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it” (Prov. 22:6). The “way he should go” in the Hebrew language means “according to his bent.” A microphone, for example, “was born” with everything it needs to receive sounds and transmit them. If, instead of a microphone, I took a can opener and tried to use it to receive and transmit sounds, that can opener would be the most incompetent object ever imagined. The internal contents of the can opener enable it to fulfill the purpose for which it “was born,” which does not include receiving and transmitting sounds. If I use the can opener to open cans, it will be a “fulfilled” object, because it “found” the purpose for which it exists. How has the Lord wired you? Let’s purpose in our hearts today to stop trying to be like everyone else, but instead, embrace our unique bent and purpose we have received from the Lord.
