“Both the singers and the players on instruments say, ‘All my springs are in You.” (Psalms 87:7 NKJV)
In 2023, the Lord gave me a word about keeping our springs clean. I shared this message at every USA regional gathering where I was invited to speak: a critical spirit or unresolved offense can contaminate our spiritual springs, turning the flow of life within us bitter with resentment, pride, or judgment.
As headlines continue to expose the moral failures of various leaders, my encouragement remains the same: guard your heart, stay rooted in the Word, and tune your ears to His voice. When I first preached this message, I had no idea what was about to unfold in the body of Christ, yet God was already speaking about the need to protect the purity of our hearts.
“Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.” (Hebrews 12:15 NKJV)
When leaders fail, the fallout can shake our faith and challenge our perspectives. However, how we walk through these moments matters. We must guard against the temptation to respond with cynicism or bitterness. Instead, let us exhibit the fruit of the Spirit, walk in holiness, and cultivate wisdom. Our springs must remain undefiled—free from offense—so that our lives continue to flow with the purity of God’s grace.
Prayer
Father, we come before You with humble hearts, desiring to keep our springs clean in this age of distraction and disillusionment. You are our source, our living water, and all our springs are in You. Give us discernment to hear Your voice above the noise and grace to walk in wisdom when others fall.
Guard our hearts against bitterness, offense, and cynicism. Let us not allow the sins of others to pollute the purity of our own wellsprings. Instead, root us in Your Word, make us quick to forgive, and steadfast in truth. Fill us afresh with Your Spirit so that we respond with love, holiness, and a heart that seeks restoration rather than destruction.
In a world captivated by the spectacle of failure, help us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. May our words and actions reflect His nature—bringing healing rather than harm, purity rather than pollution. We surrender our hearts to You today. Cleanse us, refine us, and use us for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Powerful Word!
