The Walk to Emmaus: Part 1
That same day two of Jesus’ followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem. As they walked along they were talking about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus himself suddenly came and began walking with them (Luke 24:13-15 NLT).
Have you ever been talking with someone about the things of God or what you see Him doing, and suddenly you start to experience the presence of God in that conversation? I have experienced this many times as I dialogue with people about the things of God. It is almost like when we turn our focus to Him, we experience His anointing and His presence.
However, this does not always happen. In truth, I would desire this to happen more in my life! As I read this account of the disciples on the road to Emmaus I am struck with this question: “Does our dialogue attract the presence of Jesus?” These disciples were just recounting the events of what they had experienced trying to make sense of it all and the Bible says “Suddenly” Jesus came and began to walk with them.
Here is what challenges me. Does Jesus want to show up when I dialogue with others? Does the way we speak about Him and what He’s doing, attract His presence to our conversation?
Lord, help me discuss you in such an honoring way that you love to manifest your presence in my conversations.
