I was informed today by the social security office that someone had stolen my identity. They claimed to be me and were receiving my social security checks each month. They faked my cell phone number and then set up a false email address in my name. They also set up a bank account to receive money monthly from my social security account. I had to prove to the social security personnel that I was the real Larry Kreider so they could block the imposter from draining my account.

During this season of our lives, let’s be sure the enemy, the spiritual imposter, is not misrepresenting God to us. The only way we can discern between who God really is and the imposter is by continually going back to the truth about God we find in the Word of God. Our God is a good, loving, faithful father and a righteous judge all at the same time. How do we know? The scriptures tell us so. The devil is a liar and constantly tries to steal our right standing with God, our peace, and our joy in the Holy Spirit. He is an imposter. That is why we need to renew our minds each day by focusing on the truth we find in the Word of God (Rom. 12:2).

The social security imposter was exposed and blocked from my life today. How much more important it is to expose the imposter who is trying to steal our eternal security in Christ! Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7).
